Our Work Gala Drama / Drama Foundation
Using Fashion and Film to bring a
Domestic Violence Mission to Time Square.
Each year, countless nonprofit events compete for attention and disappear when the night is over. Gala Drama saw its first New York fashion show as an opportunity to do something larger: use fashion, film, and Times Square to bring attention to domestic violence and the women affected by it.
Media Poets partnered with Gala Drama and Drama Foundation to transform the event into a larger story through documentary filmmaking, campaign strategy, and in-house production. The result was The Runway Legacy, a Silver Telly Award-winning film designed to connect with sponsors, donors, media, and future partners long after the runway ended.

The Work
Turning a Mission Into a Legacy
Media Poets created the first documentary in Gala Drama and Drama Foundation’s history, transforming an annual event into a lasting story designed to outlive the night itself.
The film captured not only the runway, but the mission behind it: raising awareness around domestic violence and honoring the survivors who have walked as part of the organization’s special presentations.
Building Public Visibility Around a Cause
The documentary followed Gala Drama’s first New York event and the creation of its Times Square campaign, helping expand the organization’s reach beyond attendees in the room.
Following the documentary and Times Square campaign, Gala Drama’s Instagram audience grew by more than 80%, increasing visibility with sponsors, donors, media, and future partners.
Combining Strategy With In-House Production
Led by 3x Telly Award-winning director Yavi Reyes and Emmy-winning cinematographer Hugo Quizhpi, Media Poets led the story, interviews, cinematography, and edit internally combining the strategic thinking of a communications agency with the production capability of a film studio.
The result was The Runway Legacy, a Silver Telly Award-winning documentary that elevated Gala Drama and Drama Foundation beyond the event itself and into a story built to last.
