Our Work Gala Drama / Drama Foundation
Using Fashion and Film to bring a
Domestic Violence Mission to Time Square.
Each year, countless nonprofit events compete for attention and disappear when the night is over. Gala Drama saw its first New York fashion show as an opportunity to do something larger: use fashion, film, and Times Square to bring attention to domestic violence and the women affected by it.
Media Poets partnered with Gala Drama and Drama Foundation to transform the event into a larger story through documentary filmmaking, campaign strategy, and in-house production. The result was The Runway Legacy, a Silver Telly Award-winning film designed to connect with sponsors, donors, media, and future partners long after the runway ended.

The Work
Challenge
Most nonprofit events compete for attention and disappear when the night ends. Gala Drama wanted its first New York fashion show to become something larger: a lasting public story capable of increasing awareness around domestic violence and extending the organization’s visibility beyond a single evening.
Strategy
Media Poets partnered with Gala Drama and Drama Foundation to create the first documentary in the organization’s history while developing a Times Square campaign designed to connect fashion, film, and public visibility into one unified narrative.
Led internally by Emmy-winning cinematographer Hugo Quizhpi and 4x Telly Award-winning director Yavi Reyes, the project combined documentary storytelling, campaign strategy, interviews, cinematography, and in-house production under one creative direction.
Impact
The result was The Runway Legacy, a Silver Telly Award-winning documentary that transformed an annual event into a long-term visibility asset designed to continue resonating with sponsors, donors, media, and future partners after the runway ended.
Following the documentary and Times Square campaign, Gala Drama’s Instagram audience grew by more than 80%, helping expand awareness around the organization’s mission and future initiatives.
